In September 2009 we acquired two apartments in a small exclusive block in Knightsbridge. Planning permission had been granted to convert the two separate properties into a single lateral apartment. There is a strong demand for lateral apartments in the prime areas of London from global buyers and a chronic shortage of supply.
We appointed one of London’s leading design teams to work with us on refurbishing the property to the highest standards. Producing the right specification and the quality of finish which appeals to global purchasers is absolutely essential if a premium selling price is to be achieved.
The conversion process was completed in Summer 2011 and was sold for a record price in Octoner 2011. This investment had no planning risk, yet it offered the opportunity to add significant value through the refurbishment process.
